Youth Bridge Foundation Empowers Young Girls in Nsawam Through Cybersecurity and Web Development Bootcamp

The Youth Bridge Foundation, through its flagship initiative Youth Tech Bridge, has successfully completed a five-week Cybersecurity and Web Development Bootcamp aimed at empowering young girls in Nsawam with essential digital skills. The program, which ran from 18th October to 15th November 2025, targeted girls aged 12 to 15 and focused on building foundational knowledge in cybersecurity, web development, and digital literacy while inspiring interest in ICT-related careers.

A total of 22 young ladies from six schools participated in the bootcamp, benefiting from a structured and highly interactive learning environment. Participants were drawn from Aburi Girls Senior High School, Nana Osea Djan Cluster 5, St. Michael’s Anglican Junior High School, Crystal Heights International School, Nsawam Presby Cluster 1 Basic School, and Nsawam M/A Basic School. While the program initially planned for 30 participants, the final cohort size enabled more personalized instruction and deeper engagement.

Sessions were held every Saturday and combined hands-on coding exercises, cybersecurity demonstrations, group discussions, quizzes, and practical challenges. Participants learned the basics of HTML and successfully built simple webpages representing their schools. In addition, they gained critical cyber safety skills such as creating strong passwords, identifying phishing attempts, practicing safe online behavior, and protecting personal data. These skills are essential for young people navigating today’s digital landscape.

Beyond technical knowledge, the bootcamp significantly improved participants’ confidence and problem-solving abilities. High levels of engagement were observed throughout the program, with peer learning playing a key role as participants supported one another during activities. Several students showed strong interest in cybersecurity and demonstrated notable aptitude in addressing digital safety challenges.

The program concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony and interviews. Feedback from participants, parents, and teachers was overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the program’s relevance and impact on the community.

This initiative highlights the power of targeted investment in digital education for young girls. With continued support from donors and partners, Youth Bridge Foundation aims to scale similar programs to reach more underserved communities, bridge the digital divide, and nurture the next generation of female leaders in technology.
